New Year, New Smile? We Can Make Your Dreams Come True

Jan 07, 2017

Have you been considering a smile makeover for a while? Why not make your dreams become a reality this year by exploring the exciting treatment options we can offer you here at The Cosmetic Dental Group? There are many different things we can do to help restore, reshape and revitalise your smile.

A Nice Smile Does Matter

Your smile is an important part of your personality, helping to express your feelings and emotions towards others, and let’s face it, a friendly and attractive smile is very hard to ignore! Studies have shown beautiful sparkling teeth can convey an image of youthfulness.

This can improve your chances of meeting that special someone, with more than half of men on Match.com rating a woman’s teeth as being the most important physical feature. Even if you are happily settled, having a whiter smile could improve your employment potential. If you have badly stained, misaligned or missing teeth, then it can be difficult to smile with confidence, which is where cosmetic dentistry can help you.

Procedures can include teeth whitening, dental bonding, veneers, crowns and bridges, as well as orthodontics and gum recontouring. Even something as straightforward as replacing old and stained fillings can make a real difference and at the same time will protect your dental health.

Listed below is a quick overview of each treatment, just to give you an idea of how each may help you.

Teeth Whitening

This is a very popular procedure that uses professional strength whitening gel to gently and safely lift deep-seated stains in your tooth enamel. Treatment can lighten your teeth by several shades.

Dental Bonding

With dental bonding, tooth coloured composite resin is applied directly to the surfaces of your teeth. This treatment is ideal for repairing teeth that may be cracked, discoloured or chipped.

Veneers

Veneers are made from very thin pieces of porcelain that fit exactly over the front surfaces of your teeth. They are bonded in place and can cover up chips, cracks and discolorations, and they are great for minimising or even closing up small gaps in between your teeth.

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns are wonderful for restoring teeth that may have become badly decayed or damaged, or which have received root canal treatment. Bridges are used to replace teeth that are missing and consist of crowns that are bonded onto the adjacent teeth and which are attached to the pontic or replacement tooth. We can provide the most beautiful looking crowns and bridges made from extremely natural looking porcelains.

Orthodontics

We offer a wide range of orthodontic options and can correct extensive problems with malocclusion as well as more cosmetically oriented issues. Your braces may be fixed or removable depending on your orthodontic needs. The most modern braces are extremely discreet and cosmetic braces may need as little as six months to straighten up your teeth.

Gum Contouring

Your gums are designed to nicely frame your teeth but some people have excess gum tissue, creating what’s called a gummy smile. By carefully shaping your gums and removing any excess tissue, we can create a more cosmetically perfect smile.

We Individually Design Every Smile

Your new smile will be custom-designed to ensure it meets your aims and desires. When designing a new smile, we make sure your entire face is taken into account, reflecting your personality, enhancing your facial features and providing the correct support for your cheeks and lips.

At the same time, we need to make sure your new teeth feel natural and have full function, in addition to looking amazing. There are a lot of different factors to be considered, but the entire process will begin with a consultation here at The Cosmetic Dental Group. By listening to you, we can discover any aspects of your smile you’d particularly like to change before determining the best treatments.

Beautifully Natural Looking Teeth Using Conservative Treatments

We know one thing that many people are concerned about is whether their new smile will look natural. The short answer is definitely a yes, unless of course you are after a Hollywood style smile makeover. All of our dentists are members of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and our preference is to take a conservative approach using minimally invasive techniques and treatments that will help to preserve and enhance your natural teeth.

For example, if your teeth are slightly out of alignment then one way to correct their position would be through using crowns and veneers. Both these treatments require the removal of at least some tooth material. This might be a great solution if these teeth are decayed or damaged in any way and could benefit from being covered up. However, this may not be the right approach if these teeth are generally nicely shaped and only need to be straightened. In this case using the very latest orthodontics will provide you with a beautifully straight smile while conserving your natural teeth.

How Long Will It Take to Complete Treatment?

The time required to complete treatment can vary considerably depending on your aims and the treatments we recommend to provide you with your beautiful new smile. Some treatments such as orthodontics may take a little longer but the outcome should be permanent. Spending just a few months straightening your teeth will let you enjoy the results for life. Other treatments such as crowns, bridges and veneers can often be completed in just a matter of weeks.

It’s also important to make sure treatments are completed in the right order as for example we will need to whiten your teeth before making any crowns, bridges or veneers, or before carrying out any dental bonding or replacing stained fillings. This is because everybody’s teeth will whiten slightly differently and by completing this treatment first we can ensure all your new restorations will blend in seamlessly, creating a beautiful and healthy smile.

Making Your New Smile Last Longer

We want to make sure you can enjoy your smile makeover for as long as possible and we only use the highest quality materials and the very latest techniques to provide long-lasting results. However, making sure you keep up with a good oral care regime will help tremendously. As well as brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing at least once a day, we thoroughly recommend you come to visit us at six monthly intervals for a check-up and hygiene appointment. This is an easy and cost-effective way to maintain healthy teeth and to make sure your smile retains its sparkle.
